Story in a Nutshell
I generally love to watch Farhan Akhtar movies. Of course, given the big Khan muscling in their movies, here was Farhan exploring quietly to be part of the project that were unique. His debut acting movie was Rock On! (2008). I saw it in 2010 over the weekday break watch. I was absolutely floored by the storyline and plot.
Due to a twist in the situation on of the three friends finds himself engaged to be married. Following which the trio play a bachelor party vacation. Slowly the realities of the relationship and tensions within them are revealed as each take turn to do an activity together which they feared the most. I think it was an excellent premise to address life’s emotional and psychological hurdles.
The three friends find what they are searching for to progress ahead in their life. Eventually one of them gets married in the end, and the fun is to find who it was! Check out the movie to know more about the way this story has been built and expanded.
My Likes and Dislikes
There are lot of things that you like in a movie that aims for entertainment factors. They are a little different from Artsy movies that I generally prefer to watch. In this movie you will get to see the true affair of the rich and the successful trying to manage their relationship and the emotions connected that specific person.
There is a lot of moments in the movie that speak of naturalness of friendship and unresolved disagreements which creates the discord. It does have a happy ending with some surprise elements. The fact that you discover within the frames of movies so many of the feel-good factor that happens when life is confronted in direct conflict with our thought processes.
Special mention is needed for the poetry in this movie! They are really beautiful and full of butterfly flutters in the stomach filled emotions. The lyrics in this movie had Javed Akhtar sahab’s magical touch. I was partial to those poetic lines that Farhan’s character would recite while being an over-cheerful person in the group but turns out to be carrying a huge hurt. The poetry is simply beautiful to listen in.
I would say it was those lighter movies whose darkness also was not so sad. Somehow, it seemed like a mirror held to the affluent whose lives are also interesting. Entertainment value of this movie is “full paisa vasool!”
We go to the movies to be entertained and to forget for just a few moments the realities of my middle-class living. Maybe the viewership have changed over the years. Meaning to say poor man in street show as exact replica of wallowing scowlers is no longer show of real-life portraits.
It is interesting and a welcome break to have movies about different strata of the society. Upper middle class, the slowly rising affluent group that makes or breaks the chain of monotony. So, I felt the movie addressed the new group and showing the youthful side of India.
Back when the camera got discovered greatest thriller movie was to capture a train rushing towards the camera. Portraying reality slowly replaced with exploring storytelling and narratives. This movie is a refreshing look at the old topic friendship, love and family.
